My OC Boundaries
Please read before using my characters
I have characters, and I truly appreciate it when people enjoy them, their stories, and the world they belong to.
However, some of these characters are very personal to me, so I need to set clear boundaries to avoid uncomfortable situations. Please read and respect these rules before creating anything involving my characters.
Ask first
Please ask before using my characters in your own projects, stories, posts, roleplay, videos or public spaces.
SFW only
Safe-for-work art may be possible in some cases, but romantic, suggestive, sexual or shipping themes are not allowed.
Do not copy
Please do not copy, redesign, recolor, trace, roleplay as, or create characters clearly based on mine.
Why is this important?
My main characters are personal representations of myself, my husband, and our relationship. They are not only fictional characters to me, but also reflections of something private and meaningful. Because of that, I ask that they are treated with care and respect. I may be more flexible with some of my other characters, but it is still best to ask first.
Can I create something with your characters or use them somewhere?
Please ask me before creating anything with my characters or using them in your own projects, stories, roleplay, games, posts, videos, or other public spaces. I do not completely rule it out, but I want to know the context and be able to say whether I am comfortable with it.
Can I draw your characters alongside my own?
In some cases, yes. You may draw my characters together with yours only in a safe-for-work context, without romantic, sexual, suggestive, intimate, or shipping themes. The context matters a lot, so please discuss the idea with me before you start.
What is your stance on fan concepts with your characters?
I have mixed feelings about fan-made concepts involving my characters. Please do not create alternate versions, redesigns, relationship concepts, story arcs, headcanons, family concepts, or similar ideas spontaneously. I am more comfortable with art, stories, and other works when I have commissioned them myself, participated in the collaboration, or clearly agreed to the idea in advance.
What about art gifts?
Art gifts are kind and appreciated, but please avoid surprise art involving my characters. There is limited public information about them, and it is easy to miss important details about their appearance, personality, relationships, or story. Also, please do not expect me to return a gift with art of my own.
Is it okay to touch on intimate relationships between your characters?
No. Please do not touch this topic in any form. Do not create NSFW, suggestive, fetish, romantic, sexual, intimate, or otherwise uncomfortable content with my characters.
Can I write fanfiction or create shipping with your characters?
No, please do not write fanfiction, shipping, romance, relationship drama, or personal storylines with my characters without my direct permission. Since my main characters are connected to real people and real relationships, this boundary is very important to me.
Can I use your characters as references for my own?
Please do not copy, heavily reference, redesign, recolor, trace, roleplay as, or create characters that are clearly based on mine. Inspiration is natural, but my characters, their designs, names, relationships, and stories are personal creations and should not be reused as a base.
